There are three types of masks for people undergoing radiation therapy. The type of mask depends on the position of the head during treatment.
The chin rest position mask is used when you are lying down on your back, with your head resting on a chin rest that comes with the mask. This helps to keep your head in place and allows for better control while moving around during treatment.
This type of mask has an open front that goes around the chin, so it can be difficult to speak or eat while wearing it. The chin strap should be adjusted so it is not too tight, but also not too loose.
The full-face position mask is used when you are sitting upright in a chair, facing directly forward. This type of radiotherapy position mask doesn't cover any area below the nose and mouth.
